Around the World in 60 Minutes:
Activities are a great opportunity to learn in an interesting and exciting way. During this pandemic, neither has the academic learning ceased at MSB nor the activities. On 20th October 2020 students of classes IX and X virtually travelled around the world zestfully through the activity, ‘Travel around the World in 60 Minutes.’ This activity was an interlinked labyrinth across the subjects Mathematics, Geography and History. These were further divided into three live stations namely: Wanderlust (Station 1)- Here the participants were involved in preparing an itinerary by referring to the links provided to them for an assigned destination. Hodophile (Station 2)- Students were given 5 task cards (prezi) in which they had to find facts and numbers of the city they had opted for. Task cards had questions based on population- male-female ratio, budgeting expenses, currency conversions, time zone conversions, graphing best time to travel, percentage of languages that are spoken, food etc. Bon Voyage (Station 3)- In this station students were asked to design a brochure of the same place for which they had already made an itinerary and budget in task 1 and task 2. Students had to complete their tasks of the first station then enter into the next through a code provided by the teacher of the present station until they reached the end of the competition. They did thorough research work on various geographical and cultural aspects of the allotted places (selected by the spin wheel), created itineraries, and brochures for their travelogue. The competitions added great excitement to the event and made the students comprehend the importance of tourism in this pandemic situation where the economy of the world is at a great risk. Judging the event was difficult as everyone had performed outstandingly. The winners of the activity in each station were as follows: Wanderlust: Ummehani Najmi (class-IX) Hodophile: Hatim Saify (class-IX) Bon Voyage: Batul Kacheri (class-X) It was an activity where not only the students but even the audience had an amazing time.
